Frequently Asked Questions

What is GIFT NIFTY and why does it matter?
GIFT NIFTY (formerly SGX NIFTY) is a derivative of India's NIFTY 50 index, traded at the GIFT City International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. It trades in USD nearly 21 hours a day and is widely used as a pre-market indicator for Indian markets. A rising GIFT NIFTY typically signals a positive opening for NSE.
What does the 52-Week Range bar in the table show?
The 52-Week Range mini bar shows where the current index level sits between its one-year low and one-year high. A position closer to the right end (filled bar) means the index is near its annual high. Click any row to see the full 52-week high and low values in the detail popup.
What are P/E, P/B and D/Y ratios for an index?
P/E (Price-to-Earnings) shows how much investors pay per rupee of earnings — a higher P/E can indicate an overvalued market. P/B (Price-to-Book) compares market price to book value. D/Y (Dividend Yield) is the annual dividend expressed as a percentage of the current index level. These are shown in the index detail popup.
What does Market Breadth mean?
Market Breadth measures how many stocks inside an index are rising (advances), falling (declines), or flat (unchanged) on a given day. A day with 40+ advances in NIFTY 50 and only 10 declines indicates strong broad participation in the rally, making the move more reliable.
How often does the dashboard refresh?
All data — GIFT NIFTY, NSE market status, and all indices — refreshes automatically every 15 seconds. A progress bar at the top of the page shows the time remaining until the next refresh. You can also manually refresh by clicking the refresh button in the navbar.
What are the NSE chart images in the popup?
Each index detail popup shows three official NSE chart images: Today's intraday chart, the past 30-day chart, and the past 365-day (1-year) chart. These SVG charts are served directly from NSE India's archive server, so they show the authentic NSE chart format.
